Széphalom

The community was first mentioned in 1440 as Kysbanya. It was made famous by its former inhabitant, Ferenc Kazinczy, who has given the village the name “Széphalom”, which was officially assumed by the community in 1886. The great reformerr of our language is honoured by the Mausoleum which was built in the Kazinczy-mansion’s garden based on the plans of Miklós Ybl, but we can also find his tomb here.

The Museum of the Hungarian Language which carries on the achievements of the great Hungarian, preserving our precious Hungarian language, has opened its gates here in 2008.
